technical information about Z22SE?????

Hello,
at the momento I'm starting a project on a Z22SE engine... I'm trying to turn it into an engine test cell for academic and research purposes...
at the moment I've tested the fueling and the ignition and is working (with some tricks I manage tu turn it on, for about 20 sec. but then it dies)
trhe problem is I can't scan it, and I cannot know what is the ECU "thinking" the only thing that I do know is that the throttle control does not seem to be working (is totally closed, and it does not responde to the pedal position ) but I dont know if this is due to a fault in the throttle control or if this is a safety meassure controled by the ECU.

does anybody have any ideas that can help me with my project?
does anyone have additional information about the throttle control and the ECU behavior (specially the inmovilizer)

Why can't you scan it? Should be straightforward to connect an OBD reader to your ECU or the immobilizer? If you get the engine started that would indicate the communications between ECU and immobilizer are ok. Would be very usefull to first read any fault codes from the ECU to get a clue where it is failing. Do you get the EML light on?

Mark, thanks a lot for your response.
the problem with my engine, is an engine that was donated, and its not on a car, is on a test bed, si it does not have an EML light or even the port to connect the scanner.
the engine runs only because I open some additional air entrances (thru the different holes in the intake manifold) but on its own it does not run, the throttle is totally closed.
at the moment im working on the wiring to see if I can organice the scanner port (that would be very helpfull) but in the meantime, I'm trying to get any response from the throttle control which so far hasn't shown any reactions.

When powering the ECU, the throttle should move. It will go to a closed state once the ECU is done.

If you don't have the immobilizer that is paired with the ECU, I think starting the engine will get REALLY tricky. You need the immobilizer to get the engine running.
