Just left work very early, started engine up and the dash light for exhaust emission/engine electronics has stayed lit. Was ok before turning engine off 7 hrs earlier.

200 cell cat, Magnex and an early cheater.

Any pointers need to do another 170 odd mile before i can look at it?
Lambda or O2?

Reset the ECU, no lights.
Went to work 32 mile ok. On way home in a little traffic after 15 mile the EML on again.
Reset for tomorrow.

Tough call but which sensor O2 or Lambda?
If i had to guess the 4 wire one with heater 2 white, grey and black.
Revs slightly differ on tickover and after 30 mile it has no go bordering missing.

Would i need a special tool? Or just use some lubricant to undo, seemed as though the sensors would break before undoing last year.

Don't use WD40 to penetrate the threads. It will damage the sensor IF you intended to use it again but if it's faulty then that wouldn't matter really.

Could it be the cat? some have issues with the 200cpi cats? Might be worth getting a fudge?

Cats the same as Jamies but been on since August last year with no probs 20K, not ruling it out though.
Before the cat replacement on tickover the revs have always fluctuated, still do. Had the missing issue a few times as well, the one that we cant put a finger on. When EML came on engine was sluggish over 3k and did sound raspy. No manifold and downpipe leaks.
Without getting underneath is the blue plug the O2 and after the cat?
Feel its the other one with the heater red/orange plug on top of gearbox after going through the sticky. Cetain symptoms like Supermarket fuel and the signal or wave not changing with revs?

Thanks theres only Benny if i can get hold of him.
Reset ECU again last night, done 25 mile sub 3000 rpm, hard work then stationary at traffic works, EML came on in less than 1 minute.
Another thing the up or down on the windows has to be held down.

my windows do that aswell after the battery has been disconnected! they just take a while to reset themselves! my eml comes on like that aswell but not as often, i have just reset it and it has stayed off?

To reset the windows you need to hold the up button on both window switchs with the windows fully closed for about 5 secs

Ta blue that worked.
Disconnected battery again cant find any where that can fit a simple job in before Friday next week. Run £16 of decent fuel through and give it some, doubt theres any change.
Some places couldnt be bothered to answer the phone all day Friday and Sat morning even though i knew there were at least two people there.
In the mean time got to do another 400 odd mile, good job i aint got to go far this week.

Might take a flyer tomorrow on rear Lambda part no. 12567680 if flexi joint not leaking etc.

Just for reference slapped £16 of BP and £10 of Esso in and give it some, EML was on.
Rest ECU for the third time and never went above 3000rpm for 29 miles. Now over 100 miles no EML and car never has run so well for ages, even sounds different.
Reckon silicon in supermarket fuel contaminating the sensors.
