New NAS Drive

Just been and bought this from PC World

Had a quick play with it at work, and seems pretty sweet. I'm not going to be installing the bundled software which allows you to access the drive from anywhere in the world, as it's going on my internal network which isn't internet facing, so no point.

Well, the piece of shite is going back tomorrow. You can't copy across more than 30 files at a time, without the disk locking up, so it's not fit for purpose.

I know a number of people who own a Buffalo Linkstation and they all think it's brilliant, one mate has a LinkStation Live it's connected to his PS3 to stream movies and music etc.

Sorry to hear that Matt, I have setup and run buffalo stations for a while now. We had one last week which had a failed drive but was setup on raid 5 so it is still running.

They can be slightly fiddly to intialy set up but run sweet as once done.

Cheers guys, just been back to PC World, and the bloke behind the counter said "yeah, they are crap aren't they" so he's swapped it me for a 1TB USB 2 drive instead. I can still run this from the desktop PC which I have set to stream media across the network.
