Oil leak

Hi,

I noticed that my oil level was dropping quite badly, after recently changing the oil. I had a look underneath and there seemed ot be a drip of oil (also had an oily patch on the road under where I park the car).

So I gave the engine a good clean (degreaser and used my pressure washer), cleaned it top to bottom (actually came up lovely as well).

Now after driving it on Friday and Saturday, I've checked underneath again and I'm getting some oil collecting on the lowest part of the engine, where it bolts onto the gearbox, right next to one of the bolts (and it is oil, not discoloured water).

Looking up, from underneath, there does still seem to be oil around the starter motor, though this area was cleaned.

Any idea's where the oil could be coming from, I've had a look around from the top of the engine and I cannot see any pools of collected oil and I can't spot any leaks, though I cannot get a clear look underneath or behind the inlet manifold.

Had a quick check and cleaned up the area again, the oil seems to be coming down from either around or above the starter motor, are there any pipes or plates up there that could be leaking ?

from the top I can;t see anything obvious but there is alot of manifold there and I'm not an accompished mechanic.

just above the starter motor is the oil filter, could be the oil seal is duff in the cap

buy a new oil filter cap = 24454629, about a tenner

I'll have a look, I have got a new seal for the cap, so may try that first but I can't feel any oil coming out there.

I'll have a look and see what I find.

Ok so had a good look today, took the starter motor out to have a good look.

It looks like the oil is coming out of the oil pressure switch itself, not from where it goes into the block but from where the electrical connector plugs in.

Went to my local Vauxhall but they don't stock the part so old switch gone back in for now, new one coming in during the week.

One thing I did find, when I reconnected the battery I now find the drivers window doesn't have the one touch down or up option now ???

For the window you need to drop the window a little and then hold your finger on the up button until you hear a click sound. This has programmed the window. Repeat for the other side.
