corsa 1.4 sri

hi guys

i am looking at a car for the misses and have been looking at quite a few..

1 its got to be small
2 economicalish lol but no diesel
3 quite safe
4 got to be black

i have looked at saxo, clio, fiesta etc... and i think its come down to a corsa 1.4 sri 53 reg+

i know some people on here have had them and know people who have get them so i just wanted to know peoples thought about them how reliable are they etc...

i've looked at corsa c forum and ovbioulsy they rate them and my mate has got the 1.8 sri and i was quite impressed with it..

so thoughts and comments please.

I really liked my 1.2 SXi.
My partners Dad has got the 1.4 SRi on a 53 reg too.

The only real fault that both me and Richard had was the steering rack went on both cars, And also the fuse for the washers kept blowing as well.

Not sure about the 1.4 but the 1.2 was chain driven.

If it's to potter about round town why not go for 1.0? My misses has ones and it drinks hardly any petrol. It's fairly gutless but then who needs power round town? Dead cheap on insurance too.

Failing that i agree with Sj, go for the 1.2 SXI. Obviously if she wants something more pokey then the SRI is a choice but for town driving i think it's fairly pointless

shit... how much was it to replace the steering rack? my mates 1.8sri rack has just gone aswell.... mmmmmmm

fues is no problerm to replace...

any other problems?

a lass i went to uni with she had a 1.0 and not my cuppa T. i want to get the 1.8 in all honesty as there a few £100 cheaper than the 1.4 but with the petrol and tax the way it is i waont be able to afford to run 2x cars

so i chose a 1.4 as it will be commuting to town and going on the motorway a few times.

I am not sure on price as when it happened it was under warranty. The only other thing that i had to have changed was the door seals are pritty poor and leaked a little.

After they got replaced for the 3rd time it never did it again.

It was driven fairly hard but i got through a set of pads every 13-15K.

It was a very tidy motor even if i do say so myself, You dont even want to know how much i lost on it when i p'xd it in cryb..

They are good little cars as said but it's pritty hard to compare it to the Clio apart from the size, as the clio is the sport it's like trying to compare a ls to GSi if you know what i mean.

What i could say though is the corsa did feel more screwed togeather then the clio.

why would you say the clio is better i just thought it was a 1.4? but i take it its a 2.0? but the overall car the corsa was more screwed together?

Yeh the clio is 2.0 sport and pulls the moon.. of my 2.2 :lol:

So it is hard to compare to my 1.2 sxi.

But yes i would say that the Corsa felt much more of a solid build than the the Clio.
