Slightly Disappointing Dyno Results...

Hey All,

Well a few weeks ago i got the little beastie on a rolling road session to give me a rough pre-tuned idea of what was going on. Here are the results:

Mods: K&N 57i (No FPR Mod - Feels worse), Ported TB, Patriot Stg 2 CNC P&P Head, +1mm Waisted Valves, Piper 260 Camshafts, Magnaflow 300cpi CAT and Piper CAT-Back. She was sipping V-Power too showo..

I was somewhat disappointed, i really thought it would be hitting closer to 170BHP and that torque dip is the biggest ive seen yet! The car however was heavily heat-soaking as the huuge main fan they used was very directional and no air was venturing near the intake - the car barely drove out of the garage, it was really struggling, popping and banging!

Edit: Its also overfuelling quite a lot!

Any comments, good or bad appreciated 🙂

Like you i would have expected a bit more with them mods. May be worth looking at getting a 4-1 or 4-2-1 mani and a better exhaust system then a remap to finish it off to see around the mid 180 mark?

Hmm i agree with the Manifold and DP, but The Piper is one of the best designed rear sections out there for the VX and the CAT is Vocky proven... 😉

Im thinking 2.4 Inlet, Remap and a 7500RPM Limiter 🙂 TBH im quite happy with the power as is - suits the car perfectly really so shouldnt complain. As i said, it 'feels' faster than that, probably down to the heatsoaking issue.

Anyone know why it would barely move after the RR though? I literally had to give it WOT for 4secs before the clutch just to pull away, then it spat out a 1ft flame and almost stalled!! No i wasnt in 3rd gear!! 63..

Probaly the piper cams? Mine are rubbish below 2,000rpm - Jerky in traffic and un-responsive from idle. In your case probably not not helped by the heat either!

Noo mate, mine is absolutely fine at low revs, are you sure you dont have a leak somewhere like the ex-manifold? - its much smoother over 2k though.

you gained about 20 hp, not bad but I would have thought the heat issue would reduce power and the fact the engine was gasping for air when leaving sounds like it was an oven in there !

you need a 2.4 inlet manifold, 4-1 exhaust manifold and a remap

get a remap i think it will bring your mods together

Cheers for the feedback guys, the 2.4 should be going on tomorrow as its been sat collecting dust for the last 4 months 63..

Will see you all at the RR Day to see what that does... Then live remap time i think 🙂

Definatly sounds like heatsoak, like said above, 2,4 and remap should see a nice gain and make it feel more together.
