djsri hiya where do i find the egr valve..can any 1 post some pics? also where do i get the egr blanking plate from cheers
vocky egr blanking plate is from the vauxhall dealers the egr valve sits above the gearbox, next to the coil pack, under the plastic engine cover (if fitted)
djsri is it easy to remove etc? if i clean it will i need to put the cheater on or just see how goes ?
vocky once they stick a good clean can help, but it might be worth fitting the blanking plate then bolt the valve over the side like this........
djsri nice 1..got blanking plate on order..had diagnostic and it come up as egr valve..will do 2mrw after work.said it was running a bit lean and it due to faulty egr valve..even ttho garage where i had car said they fitted new 1 last time it was in in dec....my word against theres now..cheers dude
djsri far as i know the egr is prone to sticking etc...i had quite few probs with mine.dnt know wht benefits you will gain from blanking off apart from not having hassle of the eml light come to egr related prob.think if they dnt work you get running probs..mine was running lean cos the valve was knackerd..im sure somene will be able tell you exactly wht they do etc and whgt hapens when they go wrong
vocky thats about it, it stops the engine running badly when the valve sticks you can remove the valve if you fit an egr cheater, available from the z22se shop
djsri is there a particular way to clean the egr etc..i noticed the pointy thing is stick out of the hole at the botom..i gaave it good blast with carb cleaner..is the pointy thing supposed be flush with the base of the hole on the valve?does tht thing supposed move up and down freely ?
djsri ps is it ok tooo disconect the egr to clean..i put the plate on today..just wondered if need give it better clean etc..thought if i disconect it may put the eml light on so i left it conected
djsri hiya should the bevelled dome be flush with the base of the valve ? ...or should it be open with a gap showing? took off and cleaned but hit bit too hard cos it was well siezed..the top bit with the spring has come off near the wiring connector but it moves freely....the dome bit at the bottom is now flush with the base of the valve.put the plate on etc and fitted the egr like your pics..just need ecu reseting for the eml light tht on
djsri had to superglue the top bit where the plasticcoever is that holds the springs and rod in place cos thumped bit to hard.jus wondering i put the valve on like yours...does it still function etc? ie the the spring go up and down or is it now redudant cos no exhaust gases circulatin..i have cleaned and freed up just wondered wht it actualy does now
vocky the valve does very little now it's blanked off, it's only there to stop getting an eml it might be a good idea to fit an egr cheater and remove the duff valve dunno..
