Exhaust manifold

I have the EM light on (fault code P0420 - exhaust limits below threshold) and Benny has pointed me to the exhaust manifold blowing (after having my timing belt done), I've got the cover off and can't see anything but can feel a small leak both sides of the joint to the down pipe, feels like a gentle blow at 3500 rpm, is this enough to trigger the light?? - He also suspected a leak somewhere in the middle of the exhaust which obviously wouldn't help - which is my next place to check when I can get it on ramps.

I was gonna take the manifold and get it welded, would a repair be possible at the joint???

Also, one final question, am I ok driving around without the heat shield/cover on the manifold???

Cheers Vocky, was looking at the pics on here, didn't realise they were face to face joints, will get a new one from the place up the road and ask them to get it on the ramps to look along the pipe, also need to check the cat is still alive if it exists!!

What and where would be a good place to get a new cat con????? cheers..

Might be worth investing in a sports cat and get it welded into ure old downpipe,will be cheaper than buing a new cat and downpipe complete

Thats what I'm thinking, will probably have to pay someone to do it though.

How much are they roughly?? - is LMF the best place to get one???
