ported manifold

Just thought i'd post up pics of my ported exhaust manifold. I done this a while back when my manifold cracked but never got round to posting the pics :oops: :lol:

This is not the finished article it was a lot smoother but I needed to fit it as I needed the car and never took a final pic :? :oops:

Didn't make a noticable differance but it all adds up in my eyes 8)

good work neil, i imagine it would be the inner chambers that need doing as well to notice anything, but like you said all adds up. Got lots of plans for porting once ptm show is over, gone and bought a dremel just for the occassion.

that manifold took me ages the cast is so hard :evil: i used an exhaust cut off tool ( like and angle grinder but with a smaller cutting disc )

Thats a good job that Neil, looks like some effort though.

Jamee, i think you may need more then a dremal, As me and matt did some work with a dremel on some softer metal then that and it took forever and used lots of heads.

Might be better with some sort of sanding disk / rasp on a drill?

Just a thought how much better is the dbilas manifold compared to a ported oe manifold?
I remember reading on one of the US websites that a ported oe manifold was good for around an extra 5 BHP. I can't believe the dbilas manifold can produce much more than that as the runner lengths look similar to the original and are still an unequal length.

Just thinking of options now the group buy on the 4-2-1 manifold has been ended.

Options TMS £1,000 forget it. :roll:

TBH that was what I thought when I had to buy the new manifold.
I got the price of the OE manifold the rung round, regal said they would sell me a dblilas cast manifold but like you say I couldn't work out how it would have gave any greater gains over a ported one hence i gave it a go and save myself a few ££££ lol.

Out of intrest how much did you pay for an oe manifold? Did you try auto vaux?

I can't remember now sure it was about £90? and that was from main stealers didn't try auto vaux
