Blanked EGR, EM light on

I blanked off the EGR valve with the Vaux plate and left the EGR attached.

However, today the EM light came on and stayed on. Perfomance appears unaffected and it will rev to the top still.

I have moved the EGR around slightly incase something was in the way of the plunger as it's still connected - does the plunger move out of it or into it?

I disconnected the battery and after an initial start, the light was off. Hopefully it will stay off.

Do you think this is co-incidental, or have I caused it?

So you have disconnected the battery and the EML is now off?

If you are still having issues just buy one of Vockys EGR cheaters.

Yes, light has stayed off today as well !

I must admit I didn't expect it to go out as the battery was off literally seconds.

If you are having problems with the EGR valve blanking it off will not get rid of the problem will it. The valve needs to move if this doesn`t happen then you get a bad feedback signal going to the ECU, if you keep the old EGR valve clean it with carb cleaner this will free it off then blank it off. I have done this with numerous cars with no problems.
