Injector and TB plugs

I'm looking at playing around with a piggyback ECU on my car, and I wanted to try getting away without cutting my wiring harness up much. I just saw Yello's thread with the adaptors, and it got me thinking. Does anyone know of an online shop where I can buy plugs that would fit the existing plugs?

At the moment really I'm after both ends of the standard fuel injectors, and the throttle body (the one actually on the TB itself, not the one on the harness that connects to it).

Failing that does anyone know of a place that sells sensibly priced waterproof plugs with multiple reasonably high current contacts? All i've found so far are some waterproof d-types that look pretty expensive, and would probably be unhappy about driving injectors.

Delphi conenctors are a whore to get in volumes of less than 1K units... even our suppliers at work cant get them for us (and they are Delphi ffs)

Vehicle Wiring Products do a good selection of alternative waterproof connectors.

I bought a z22se engine loom and a cheap z1.8 tb to cut off what I needed

thats probably the best way forward, not too expensive, z1.8 tb was £15 and engine loom £25

Thanks. VWP looks like a handy site to get the stuff I need from.
I guess engine looms aren't going to get any more expensive in the near future as there are so many Z22SE cars out there. I might as well just cut my loom where it needs cutting and then buy a whole new loom if I do want to go back to standard. I think there's very little chance of that now i've got a whacking great hole in my boot now though!

I notice VWP do a load of different wire colours, which would be pretty handy. It's a shame they don't do some kind of selection pack though - I don't want to buy 1km of different colours of wire, but then I don't fancy wiring everything in black and red either!

just buy some multi-core cable and remove the outer casing, then you have loads of different colours

good plan. I'd never considered that!

I built up the whole Bike TBs + ETB arrangement, but I'm just not happy with the linkage, so I'm going to have to be a bit more sophisticated and connect the choke control motor to the main butterflys, but that involves a load more wiring and a microcontroller to control the stepper and fake the ETB... All a bit of a disaster really 🙁

only prob is with buying another loom is they all seem to be different! - my vx220 loom is odd

are the ECU connectors soldered or crimped? if soldered, you could de-solder the needed pins and run a new set to your injectors/whatever?

That's a good plan rik... the ones i've seen (mainly headlight) have been crimps, but for those I have managed to unfold the crimp a bit, solder, and then file them down enough to go back in the hole...

vehicle looms shouldnt ever be soldered really. due to it making the wires easier to vibrate off etc.

Crimping is the way (with a good crimp tool of course)

Easier to vibrate off? What do you mean?
I've tried not to just butt wires up against each other and solder, but it's always seemed to me like soldering as well as having a mechanical connection would be better than just a crimp. I've been redoing a friend's loom for a Mr2 V6 conversion he's doing, and the original toyota loom was soldered.

I solder all my looms, never had a problem, a mechanical joint can be better, but they do tend to fall off, so no real winner

the solder will flow up the inside of the insulated part of the wire, creating a potential stress location.... so vibration on the wire could cause premature failiure.

I admit I too use solder on harnesses, but try to make sure its all stress relieved and well supported if in a harsh location.
