Air con probs

Hi folks! just tried my air con and it didnt work, light illuminated on button but no temp change, any ideas!. notsure.gif

either needs a regas or you have a leak on the condensor

Yes it sounds like you need a re fill with gas 🙂

got the same problem with mine, push the button and nothing happens.

had a regass twice and had the system checked for leaks and pressure tested and still nothing what..

I know it runs on a belt to power the air con, your pump may have gone :? . That will cost alot. I have a spare one from ages ago.

the pump works fine

there is a relay for the aircon by the battery, if i run an earth wire to one of the pins on the relay the air con comes on permenantly.

dunno why its like this though what.. notsure.gif

Looks like ill have to open a window then in the summer!, what will the neighbours think?

Does your idle speed increase when you turn on the air con as this suggests that the pump/compressor is running. If this is ok then it requires re-gassing many people do it these days for around £50 look in the Yellow Pages in your area. A mate a work does mine for £10 😃

i bought a thing called .the big chill off my mac dealer,do it ureself regas,used half a tin and realised it was leaking out quicker than it was goin in...fixed the leak,regased and coldish now

Afternoon! just found a pipe broke on the air con! the pipe in question runs from the compressor to the air condensor, looks like it's sheared off inside the coupling joint,i was trying out dodgers dle speed theory at the time,never noticed any change when idling, does this still point to a compressor problem as well. notsure.gif

i'd get the pipe changed and then see if it works.

Evening folks! just to let u know i can get the pipe replaced and reggased for £90. "O happy day",the guy who wil be doing it virtually lives on my doorstep and fortuanatly for me was the head mechanic at a local VX dealership for 15 years, and now runs his own garage. I think i love him! rofl..

I'm having mine looked at on Wednesday. I'm having a full inspection carried out which costs £25, then if it needs re-gassing its another £70. If the compressor is furked, its going to be between £360/£400. On the other hand if its just the pipe it should be just over £100.

Andy, I've got 'Go Cool' coming out to do a full inspection on my air con system on Wednesday. I asked them about what you mentioned above and they have given me an answer. The air con is linked into the ECU. There is a sensor in the system that monitors whats going on. If there is a problem, it sends a signal to the ECU and the ECU shuts down the aircon so as not to cause any damage. By earthing out the system you are over riding the fail safe system.

Funny you should mention that. I thought that too, so I phoned Courtenays and they assured me that it wouldn't be an issue with the remap because the remap only deals with the fuel/air ratios, but, on talking to the chap from Go Cool he said that sometimes things can be switched off accidently. If the system comes back as working correctly then I suppose it'll mean that someone will have to turn it back on again. I don't fancy driving alll the way upto Norfolk just to have that done.

well tbh the only reason i thought it mioght have something to do with the remap was the fact that it was working before the remap but not after it.

i remember turning it on on the way home and there was difference in the revs notsure.gif

Turning the air con on makes the car work a bit harder so the idle will change as it' using more power to run it. 🙂
