Finally managed to get a few minutes with Jon @ Courtenays tonight, before I left - damn but those guys are busy. I may have a possible solution to my Limp mode woes. Courtenays have obviously run into my P1514 problem before fitting the SC throttle body onto some of their SC conversions. Their solution is along the above lines of "dampening" the readings by relocating the map sensor onto an additional piece of tubing but in addition to this they've also fitted what amounts to a bush underneath the map sensor to try and minimise the spikes. It's a tiny cylinder of brass about 5mm long with a 0.8mm hole all the way through the centre of it.
If I can find the necessary bits and pieces this weekend, I'll have a go at fitting it to see if it resolves the problem (which I had 9 times on the way back from North Walsham tonight  )
It also sounds like they are making progress with some additional mapping parameters for our ECU's, which could be good news for the future.
