how do you wax next dat then??

Once the car has come of the bodyshop next monday, i need to protect it as it would have also been mopped, plus get it ready for the shows...
I usually 3 stage it, but i am wanting to give it another stage 3 3 times more over the next week, but it will be getting dirty in between, so how do i wash it without losing the wax on there??????

A good shampoo mate, Megs do 2 from halfords, a blue one and the orange one. Superb stuff and doesn't strip the wax. If your not wanting to wash in between wax layers you could spritz in between coats. This involves putting ice cold water in a fine mist spray bottle, putting your first layer on, spray with the water then putting another layer on.This will enable you to put multiple layers on without removing he first layers when applying the second ect. The other option if you have any Last Touch or the spray detailer you get with Clay is just wash the car down with this and a good MF but only if its lightly dusty. HTH

Never got on with Gold Class shampoo (Orange). Always use Megs NXT Shampoo (Purple).

If I were you Jamee, using the car and trying to keep it clean just won't work. You mentioned 3 stage, have you ever tried the Clay Bar kit? To start with I would use NXT shampoo to clean the car. Then use the clay bar kit which includes Quick Detailer as lubrication for the clay bar. once you have clayed the car, use 3 stage. I would also use Poorboys Natty's Paste Blue on your car. This is a paste wax. Matt has used this with great results.

That would be my preparation. If you are using the car after that, hose off with water, then use NXT shampoo, dry with Megs waffle towel and then waxs over with the Poorboys Nattys paste again. Poorboys also do EX-P which is f*ckin awsome. I use this too before using the paste.

I totally agree with all of the above.

Only thing is, it all depends on what you are having done at the bodyshop. If you are having fresh paint put on i would highly reccomend not having it waxed / sealed for at least 12 weeks to allow the paint to cure properly or you may have issues later down the line.

Also you say you are having it mopped, I am sure that your bodyshop know what they are doing but i always double check work done by bodyshops by getting under some bright halogen lights like at a petrol station at night and look for buffer trails and holgramming left by not breaken down products correctly.

Like Johnny said poorboys stuff is really good value and brill to work with, nattys blue wax and ex-p, gets my thumbs up every time.

normally body shops just polish the panel they have sprayed and adjacent panels to remove imperfections, but as said i would check first because they just want cars in and out normally .im not sure about leaving it three months without waxing it thats a long time to leave your paint unprotected, the bodyshop should have baked your car in an oven which would have cured it.

i would definately clay it first, then use stages 1 and 2, dont bother with step three just put a good wax on top of it.
or megs have just brought a new nxt2 wax out you could try that, it has had some good reviews on detailing world.
but do it all at once stage 2 offers no protection so if you leave it you will be wasting your time.

you could try a coat of collinite wax which lasts for ever and every other week you could give it a quick detail with megs ultimate spray detailer that will keep it looking good all summer.

cheers for all the replys, how come i need to clay it if it is fresh paiont, and been mopped everywhere else???
The bodyshop is great, he has all the polish boys do the mopping, and to be fair they are good, plus i will be there myself doing it as well, cant leave it 12 weeks, got my 1st show on 11 may, need it very shiny and deep!

I misread the first part about mopping. Forget the clay bar then. Only use the clay bar when the paint work has attracted bonded contaminants. The best way to know if you have these are by drying off the car after washing and then very gently, lay your palm out flat and feel over the panels with your eyes closed. Your sense of touch is greater. You'll also look a right tw4t if your neighbours see you and they'll think that you are getting off on your car!!

fking ell john, you really know some daft stuff, but ill try it anyway, , my neighbours will have a field day with this one, as they think im sad, and mad as i use a toothbrush for the wheels, badges, and any other nooks and crannies.

You'll notice tiny specs of what can only be described as grit like sand particals if you have bonded contaminants. You'll know what I mean if you have them.

The other way to tell if you need to clay the car is the plastic bag trick. Now you do look like a right t*t doing this one.

Once your car is washed and dryed then get one of those plastic food bags across the paint if you feel lumps \ snags then you need to clay your car.

the only problem i have found using stage 2 or #7 show car glaze then nxt is that NXT contains small abbrasives so you undo some of you work in applying stage 2 / #7.

I am not sure about nxt 2 though?

Like furn says get your self some detailer spray, best product to add to any cleaning method/ routine.
