2.2 sri or 2.6 V6 sri????

Hi all,

I currently own an 02, 2.2 sri vectra (silver), I've seen a 2.6 v6 sri for sale which I'm very tempted to buy, considering what I paid for mine 6 months ago (so hoping to sell it for pretty much the same), and that I'm looking at getting my timing chain replaced with Benny sometime soon, this would be roughly the same as what the V6 is up for sale. The cars are identical pretty much, except the V6 had different (nicer) alloys and the GSI front bumper.

Would really appreciate any advice! - I love my 2.2 to bits but cant help thinking of having the same car but slightly better looking and faster!!!!! - 170 bhp instead of 150.

Be ready to fill up alot more though.

Trust me i had a V6 once boy can they drink.

I test drove a 12 month old 2.6 v6 sri 'back to back' with the 2.2 sri, I bought the 2.2 sri 8)

the v6 was great sounding, but the 2.2 was so smooth and seemed quicker :shock:

plus my vec 2.5 v6 GSI drank fuel and returned just 19 mpg :roll:

all depends wether you can afford to run one specialy with the increase in tax coming dunno..

And for the sake of 20bhp difference, you can get that out of the 2.2 engine quite easily nowadays.

Ok cheers guys, I think i will do the sensible option and keep the 2.2 it's plenty quick enough for the journeys i do anyway, and don't really fancy 19 mpg!!!
I'll catch up with Benny to get the timing chain done, then start on some mods!!!

Might just go for a spin in it!!!!
