Rang Jason up today and he quoted me £427 for a live remap, it will be rolled before, afterwards and then again after final tweeks, he reckons with the mods i have done, including the cams that are being sent off friday to piper, i should see between 18-22bhp, that would take me up to 200bhp ish hopefully, sounds good, but what are the chances of gaining nearly 20bhp from a live remap???

Have you thought about changing the injectors, haven't there been reports of lean running on standard ones at the 200bhp mark?

When are you planning on having it done mate?

According to vocky, i will probably need the SC injectors for over 200bhp, so do i buy them and fit them before the remap, or after? do the sc injectors make any difference then?
If i can get the cams in soon, it will go up in about a month.

AFAIK you can only use the SC injectors after a remap as they caused problems on standard map?

I might join you for a remap if I can get the work done on mine in time!

I want some injectors though and a 2.4 throttle body first though!

I'd be very suprised if you hit 200bhp. Are you sure he said you'd get another 20bhp from Live mapping alone?? Seems very optimistic IMO, taking into consideration all the work that's been done to my car and Vockys including ported head etc??

PM the that is selling his 2.4 then quickly!

But surly they should be on ready for the remap to take it into consideration?!!???

You will need Courtenay to sort out the mapping if you are looking for the 2.4 T/B to work.

John, i got 171.5 now, so cams and even 12bhp remap will give 194bhp, then the removal of balance shafts later on, and perhaps a manifold, so a couple more mods i should be at around 210bhp hopefully.

Johnny, I thought Courtenay were releasing a kit to eliminate the probs with the 2.4 TB? Failing that I will just get mine ported.

Also John, thats why i posted it here, it sounded a bit expensive and optismistic to me, but he said standard are around the 10-12 mark, but live remaps with my maps should be around the 18-22 mark.

I would imagine that in addition to the kit the car would also need mapping by them for optimum results??

Andy who had the silver coupe had a Live map done last time we went to Chipped UK and he had the precat removed and a catback system fitted with the usual airbox mods and his Live map only achieved 157bhp.

Like i said i dont know, i didnt mean to sound arsy, all i know is that i got 171.5 now, so id imagine after the cams and remap i should be at least 190bhp.

look what vocky has done to hit 215 bhp I would be very suprised if you hit that??

Can see where jamee's coming from...171 now....plus 10 for cams maybe and 13 for remap thats 194 ish...

I agree neil, but going on what gains people have had for cams and a remap, 10 for cams, at least 10 for live remap, even that is 190, balance are 10bhp, and a manifold around 5-6bhp, so all in, should be around 205bhp??!!, with all that i will have the same spec as johnny and he should be pushing around 210 now i would have thought.

20BHP seems a bit optimistic to me, although I'd love to be wrong 😃

I spoke to a "lad" there the other week as they're local to me, but I can't say he filled me with confidence. I don't think it was Jason I spoke to - did you get a good vibe from him? I only ask as it would be good for me to go there rather than a long trek to Blackpool or Norfolk.

In relation to the above I visited Weston performance in Solihull (5 mins from where I work) for a rolling road session. I got talking to the chap there that does all their mapping and it became obvious he REALLY knew his stuff; unfortunately the software tools he uses don't work with the Z22se ECU 🙁 Anyway, I asked what he thought about chippeduk and whilst he didn't exactly say anything bad about their work he did offer to check what they did.....

Ive been upto chippeduk with my mate whilst he was having a remap done on his gttdi, and jason sounds like an alright guy, he talks like he knows a bit, and ive heard good things about him. But what his actual work is like i do not know 1st hand.

I look at it like this.........We are all at different levels of tune on this site and what one person gets never seems to be the same as someone else. There's not just a case of adding bits together and coming up with a total BHP/torque figure. Its been proven that my car running the 2.4 inlet manifold has given no power increase at all yet it has altered the power graph for a smoother graph. The CS5 package claims between 35-40bhp increase which it has delivered. The next big jump up on my car was when the 2.4 T/B was fitted and run at full chat.

Some people with relatively minor engine mods have added the 2.4 inlet and have seen very good gains. But after adding cams and a map, would there be much of a worth while increase??

I don't know what the outcome will be bbut i'll keep my fingers crossed for you mate.
