Matt Hello i was wondering if anyone could help me.. I own a 02 astra sri and the mileage is currently nearly at 45k. The cambelt has not been changed before so would it need replacing? Any ideas how much this would cost? Cheers
Daz First off is it a 2.2??.....if so it has a a chain ,not a belt...If its not a 2.2 then the belt should be changed every 40k or 4years.whichever comes 1st.... If it a 2.2 then the chain is good for the lifetime of the engine(100k) but bein an 02 plate it could be affected with the mall oiljet problem...and for peace of mind i would get it changed...
Daz You bu a kit with the jet,chains and guides and tensioner....around £100 for the parts and the labour on top....If ure local to benny then he's the man to do it..at a resonable price...
baldie87 benny is a vauxhall mechanic who does peoples chains on the side if you do a member search for "benny" then pm him he will sort you out. every one recommends him and not just on this forum. cheers..
