Should you replace the roller cam followers?

On page ten of the Vauxhall TIS linked below it says "The roller cam followers must be renewed when installing a new camshaft".

Is this really necessary - I don't recall reading about any one on here who's done this unless there's been a problem with tapety noises etc? dunno..

But on the other hand I cant see Vauxhall/Opel advising this unless there was a reason, as there could be circumstances where this could cost them money....

As Autovaux have quoted me £10 x 16 + VAT :shock: for the followers my wallet is looking for some reassurance 🙂

I personally don't see the need as they are roller rockers, unlike the other vauxhall engines

the hydraulic followers can sometimes get noisy, but they don't need replacing either as they dont touch the cam lobes

Cheers Vocky that's what I was hoping you'd say 😃 hail..

Think I'll do the cam swap and just keep my ears open for any changes in valve train noise.

That is a lot but I remember having a Renault megane coupe in to repair a broken cam belt and the followers wer £58 Each!!!!
