Oil Burner???

Hi guys,

Just wondered if any of you could help me with a wee problem.

Recently the car's been going through oil like nothing i've seen before, had to put 5 litres in in the last 2 months!!!! No other obvious symptoms of anything and no obvious oil leaks. Any ideas????

Plus the front pipe and centre section are doing my head in. Got a new front pipe put on last year (factor part - no pre-cat and £300 cheaper) and it won't seem to join right with the centre section, keeps blowing the seal!! Any ideas on how I can stop this???

Thanks in advance for your help or suggestions or anything really, cos the wife's gonna kill me if it costs any more at the garage lol

did you own my car before because im having same oil probs...slight leak by alternator which im told is carankshaft oil seal.i got car booked in next week to had some checks done..doing my bloodey head in..thougt they supposed be great cars

They are great cars but if seals wear out then that's when they need to be changed because rubber seals do go hard and start leaking no matter what engine they are on and if you're going to use cheap pattern parts then you will find that they don't fit correctly and they will cause you problems.

As for the oil usage, are you noticing any smoking from the exhaust? Does the water in the coolant system look clean as it should?

too be honest there dont seem be any smoke blowing etc..the header tank is how it was when bought in nov..clean and toped p to mark...have noticed im gettin a lot oil around the throttle housing and inlet pipesd..not excessive amounts and there aint puddle s of oil underneath either

yer just a bit...it dont seem to be detremental but my name aint sheik and i aint got shares in saudi lol...going to a good garage to have die test etc next week see if they can fathom...do you know anything bout aircon? got lot condensation on bottom corner of my aircond rad today...thing is it not blowing cold air and im told it need regass??c
