Hi,
in case some of you were not aware i recently had issues with a zafira 2.2 with chains and vibrations.
Well i got a friend round to sort the chains out, and thought no more of it, however after taking the engine over 5000 rpm, it became clear all was not well, and upon further inspection we found that the rear balance shafts was moving and had chewed up its shell bearing.
Now i got some great info off here about removing these shafts by knocking back the rear shell bearings and set about this plan,(well i didn't lol)
But after dropping the engine to remove the front shaft, we cam across another problem, the front shaft shell came out WITH the shaft and this was the state of it!Not only that but the front bearing had been run too rendering that useless!

this obviosuly meant not even a new shell would go back in, and at this point, new engine came to mind. But never the one to give up, Brian (aka Vecmac from VVOC) came up with a plan to save the engine, and promtly set to work creating these ,

now the brass bushes would normaly be solid and made from ally but due to the excessive damage he chose to make them out of brass ,and give them room to adjust to perfectly fit the hole blocking the rear oil ways. The shafts ends were made from stainless steel and then hardened.
All bolted back in and well, what a difference, vibration reduced but big increase in engine pickup speed. Just wanted to say thanks to Vocky etc for all your advice and help and that if anyone wants some of these kits made then let me know, as he knows they work fine he can knock them up as required!
