Replacement oil jet

Just wondered what everyones opinion was on the new style oil jet? Everyone seems to be worried about having the old style cam chain with old oil jet. But after seeing the new jet and talking to Mark at courtnays at the RR meet I think that the problem lies more in the maintainance of the vehicle?? As the new style jet is still as likely to block in my eyes as the 2 holes whice feed the chain with oil are still as small as the orginal dunno.. .

What do you think dunno.. .

I see your point Neil but would you really want to take the chance?? The ally bronze insert in the old style jet has a hole in it which is less than 1mm dia. The new style jet is about 4mm dia. Admittedly the initial 2 feed holes are the same size on both jets but what's the chances of both feed holes blocking? And if they did then you are back then to just poor maintainance and if that's the case then you're your own worst enemy.

I assumed it was that cruddy brown stuff you get on the inside of engines that was blocking them, either way it should be a lot harder to block the new jets.
Maybe excessive, but mine gets new oil every 2500 miles :oops:

poor servicing will kill any engine eventually :roll:

the new style oil jet doesn't seem to suffer from the problems the small jet has 🙂

I do agree with the above but also want to make people aware that it is just as important to keep on top of maintenance and not just convince themselves that once the new jet is fitted all will be well.
