Help please..

Hello there i have just bought a 2002 Sri 2.2 and after reading the forum i,m a little worried its going to die on me..lol.. Mine is a march 02 model and the engine code on the pass is Z22SE 11048605. I,m led to belive this is the later engine with modded oil vent thing.. Can someone on here confirm this for me if possible.... Cheers

03 cars are ment to have the new oil jet but when stripped down they have had the old one, the only way to be 100% sure is strip it down.

all engines before 11064500 and certainly ALL vectra B's had the old style oil jet fitted at the factory

so you need to consider having the timing chain replaced, especially if there is a rattle on cold start up.

I have just had a look at the Rusty nut on the back as per some of the pics on here and mine has the one with the slots cut on the edges.. am i right in presuming this is the later one. ?? There is no rattle on startup and its quite when running.

just listen out for any rattling and change the oil + filter every 5000 miles 🙂

Thanks for the help mate, Its going in to Vx for a full serice on tuesday.. I have a 6 month AA warranty on the car when that expires i will get the chain done..

That 'Rusty nut' is the tensioner bolt. That in NO WAY indicates that you a later oil jet. Get the chain and new oil jet kit fitted. It just piece of mind and way cheaper in the long run.

As soon as the warranty is up i will get it done. Is it benny on this forum that does it, i,m sure i read he is in wolverhampton which is only 10 miles from me.. Just trying to confirm that the AA warranty covers the timing chains it says belts but nothing about chains..

Yeah benny is in Wolverhampton and on this forum. He did mine for me about 18 months ago and it's been sweet ever since. Considering the price its well worth it

According to the AA i,m covered if the timing chain breaks under the 6 month warranty i got with the car. If all is good after 6 months i will get in touch with benny about having the chain done.. Thanks for your help..

Seems my warranty only covers repairs up too £250. Which is no good if the chain snaps. I have Pm,d Benny about getting it done now. Maybe i can claim the cost back from the warranty..? At least it will be done, i dont really want to drive the car at the moment as i,m worried its going to die on me....

if it does not rattle on cold start up then it's unlikely to snap soon.

Benny is very good and has changed many cam chains, it is a relief once it's done 🙂

Its silent on startup. but i,m paranoid now. I can just imagine my pregnant wife breaking down somewhere on the M6... Its a bit of a pain having to spend out after just buying the car but at least it will be done and i can stop worrying about it.
