passenger air bags

hi all , just wondered if there is a switch inside car to turn off passenger air bag off to be able to fit child seat

Yea ja you can turn the pass airbag off can't remember off the top of my head how you do it have a look in your manual if you've not got one and if no one has posted up by tomorow I'll have a look in the book but sure it's something to do with the key just can't remember getting a bit late...lol
Oh yea is it a Vectra,Astra Meriva????

I didnt think that you could. I belive it has to be done via Tech 2 rather then a manual overide. Most dealers dont like to do it or wont for a reason i can not remember.

I may be wrong though so will wait for some one to confirm.

Your best bet may be to call a dealer?

dont think you can turn them off manualy

I'm sure someone told me you could turn them of?? Aparantly if you get a genuine vx child seat there is a plug attached that plugs into a socket under the drivers seat to turn off the Pas air bag might be wrong but i'm sure there is a socket under my seat (astra) i'll have a look when it stops raining????

you cannot turn the passenger airbag off in a vectra B, as it has side airbags as well these would also need turning off.

the only way would be to fit a single airbag ecu and disconnect the airbags and door sensors leaving just the drivers airbag.

Ja if you open your Pass door and have a look at the side of the dash at the front it will either have a sticker with a pic of a babyseat on the seat and a red circle round it with a line through it if you have this then it means you can't put a babyseat on it if not there should be a sticker on the bottom of the pass seat at the sill it's worked through weight recognition and up at your cortesty light there will be a wee light that lights up when you put the baby seat on but I think it needs to be one of those ISOFIX seats I think mate... Sorry I couldn't have been any more help mate... Do you not have an owners manual ja?

couldn find me manual anywhere , but it does have a sticker on the side of the dash when door's open and i knew they used to have a switch on side of dash or glovebox that you used put ya key in but never mind guess its tough then :lol:
