Coolant level dropping only had car 1 month

Hi, havent had my vectra very long, about a month and 700 miles, the coolent light keeps coming on and when i check its a tiny bit down, its happened twice now, i've searched and cant find anything thats the same situation as mine, its only just had the engine rebuilt from the cam chain snapping and was wondering if they had done anything wrong to cause this,

I've checked the oil regularly and its not getting gunky or anything like that can anyone help or is this nothing to worry about just to keep a bottle of water with me.

maybe they didn't tighten the hoses fully or the rad has a little hole dunno..

or might be air still trapped in the system and it's finding it's way out

if you cant see any water leeking leav some card board under it and if there is air left in the system it could blow the head gasket if not bleed properly dunno.. happened on me last motor :?

How do you properly bleed the system, does it have those little screw things located anywhere Dont want it blowing the head gasket !!!!!!

I remove the small pipe next to the cam chain to bleed the system, the one which goes to the expansion tank

okie dokey thanks for that, i do the same normally but all my other cars are sheds so i'm not too bothered about doing it right on them.
just one thing does it matter which end to take off as i'm guessing it'd be easier to take it off at expansion tank end.

i give it a good check over today and i noticed that when the engine got up to temp there was less water in then when i opened the cap the water filled back up again.
Does this sound like some kind of air lock in the system.

it's best to remove the engine end of the small pipe, once coolant appears at the fitting there should be no air in the system.

i had a similar problem with my zafira during summer was fine but come winter every 500 or so miles coolant level would appear. it turned out to be a faulty matrix unit. vauxhall do a winter service for around £45 and that gives u a warranty for 6 months on any coolant issues so they ended up replacing it free of charge for me

woohoo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! took it to my mechanics as i couldnt figure it out, he said once he got it on the ramp he could see a tiny tiny leak from the bottom pipe, tightened the jubilee clip and pressure tested it and all seems well ...... touch wood. find out properly in a few days i guess, and just to top it off he said no charge as i repaired his windscreen a few weeks back ! 😃
