Thanks To Raz for the 'How-To' :
Front seat removal.
It is wise to disconnect the battery when dealing with any airbags/tensioners etc and if you have height adjusters on the seats, make sure theyre in the up position as this will make the job ten times easier.
Firstly, depending on what seats you have, will depend on what plugs you will have to remove.
If you just have standard seats, all you will have is the simple green plug (pre-tensioner wire)
Firstly, move the seat all the way forward, giving you access to the 2 rear T40 torx bolts.
Be careful with theses as if you use a torx bix with a shallow shank you will definitely round the heads off.
I recommend a halfords bit as these have a really deep shank.
Ok, once these 2 bolts are removed, you need to unclip the loom holder, simply push down on the clip and slide it forwards.
Then, pull the seat back and it will come out of the rails.
Nearly there.
Tilt the seat back so you see the wiring underneath. There should be a cable tie holding the pre tensioner wire in place, snip that off and that will give you a bit more room to work.
Then, with the seat flipped over, unclip the green plug by pushing a small flat blade screwdriver into the bottom of it.
Pull the plug out.
Seats out.
Now to undo the pre tensioner (if fitting different seats in)
At one end of the cylinder is a T50 torx bolt.
Simply undo this and pull the tensioner out of its retaing lug.
Replace in the new seat.
Refitting.
Simple enough but make a note of where the pre tensioner wire threads through the framework of the seat and ensure it goes back the same way. You don’t want the wire getting trapped!!!
And when clipping the seats back in, ensure both seat rails are as far forward as possible.
This will give you the best view to make sure the are going in straight. One rail can be pulled forward by hand, the other must be done by the adjuster.
Job’s a good ‘un!
