Vectra Wearing tyres out on the rear

Hey, I drive a Vectra C 2.2 SRi and it is wearing the rear tyres out on the inside, I complained to my local Vauxhall dealer and they said that they all do it, some worse than others. This cant be right, it has only done 7,000 and it is needing another set of tyres on the rear, could anyone please advise what can be done to prevent this?

my vectra C has just had the original rear tyres replaced, 2mm of tread left and even wear all the way across, mileage = 39000

so they don't all do that :roll:

Ah rite, My mam has a 2.2DTI and its doing the same thing, she had the control arms changed and it still does it but not as bad. Could it be wear on the rear shocks?

We have had a few Vectra C in with this problem true they are not all like this but a few do wear on the inner edges, even with the top rear link arms in good condition with no wear in the bushes and yes rear shocks have failed earlier than you would expect . Get a good 4 wheel alignment done including camber and castor angles, with particular attention to the rear, it can be done and will prolong the life of your tyres. If they are Bridgstones they might be getting a bit noisey too.

Just changed mine mate 40k. The camber in the rears with SRi/GSi set up is quite large, just make sure you have the right pressure in them about 35-38 psi believe it or not. Also replace them with 225/45/17 not the stock 215/50/17's, the wider tyre is a more common sized tyre so far cheaper to replace, plus its also a recommended tyre in the Vectra handbook. God knows why they put the 215's on and recommend the 225's but the do. The speedo will only be out 1mph at 60 so nothing to worry about there.
