richard did my timing chain over a year ago and im still paronoid the timing may be out its just my car seems gutless it doesnt miss or anything like that just seems slow and doesnt feel lively at all i do have the sealey pro setting/locking tool set so sure i can check it with this just wondering what car would feel like if timing was slightly out any ideas guys? all the coloured links were put to the correct markings but now not sure if car was at tdc when chain was done as had my dad help and he was like as long as nothing moves that will be ok just take old one off and put new one on trouble is i did have to rotate crankshaft about 1 link i think as didnt line up but put that down to the fact chain had streched any thoughts guys?
vocky there is a mark on the crank cog which must align with the coloured link the only way to check would be to remove the lower timing chain 🙁 a lack of power can be caused by the timing being out
richard thanks vocky the coloured link was on the mark(white dot)on crank cog 100% sure as had to rotate crank to get it to lign up what was worring me was im sure we didnt have it at tdc but did have all the coloured links on there marks when put new chain on. you can see in the photos how it was out by one link when first went on. and you can see the coloured links on the camshaft sprockets do you think it was done right?
vocky I hope this pic is when the timing was out, as this is clearly wrong notsure.gif I think you did reset it, so the timing should be ok dunno..
richard yea that was before i moved the crankshaft. all i did when i reset it was rotate the crankshaft so the white dot on crank cog was in line with the coloured link i hope thats all i had to do dunno..
vocky yes it's that easy to align the timing 🙂 might be a dodgy lambda or blocked cat causing the low performance or you may have just got used to the power
richard thanks vocky well im hopeing to get new exhaust system soon and 200 cell cat so have to see how car feels after that would i need to replace both sensors in exhaust or which one would be best to replace first dunno..
