My new uber! pc

its been a while since i been on as i have been gaming lots but 2 weeks ago i built a new pc
consisting of £££
asus striker 2 formula (mobo)
intel quad core q6600 (cpu)
crucial ballistix tracer 1066mhz (memory)
2x ecs8800gt (gfx cards)
thermaltake quad sli 850w (psu)
asus sata light-scribe dvd-rw drive
2x wd sats 2 250gb hdds

and my water cooling kit too(Honda civic rad) but just on the cpu for now

its good that's all i can say had some trouble overclocking the cpu at first but resolved it after adding some volts to the cpu, the cpu core is 2.4ghz x 4 standard
so if you some one tell you its a 9.6ghz cpu tell them to shut up cause is not its 4 cpus in one and of a speed of 2.4 per core(rant)
now i got it running at 3060mhz per core which is the same as a £500 cpu but i paid £155 for mine lol
will push further when i have time.
The gfx cards are as fast as the 8800gtx if not faster but half the price
my 1st step with the gfx cards was to edit the bios so the clock speeds were faster as default
the ESC 8800gt gpu speed is 650mhz and memory 950mhz default
i found the evga 8800gt ssc bios on the net which has a gpu speed of 700mhz and memory 1000mhz default
so i have flashed both the gfx cards to the evga bios saving me £60 per card the ECS 8800gt is £150 where as the evga 8800gt ssc is £210 (bang for buck!)

That looks fantastic mate! Roughly how much would one of these cost to build, as my desktop PC is nearly 5 years old now, and it on it's last legs?

well i got most of the stuff from a computer fair from a well know store here's the prices

gfx cards x2 £301 there £150 each

hdd x2 £70

case £30 -100 depending on your choice

it cost me £904 as i already had a case that's great from last build
you don't have to spend what i have dell do a quad core pc for like £600 but the components are nowhere as good.

Thought about water cooling on this 13 months ago but there again it aint severely clocked as i dont play games.
How times and prices change by the month except CPU in this case paid 15 months ago £145 for an E6600, still over £100. On the link below same price as your quad!
GPU is the let down on this one an ATI XT1950 but pretty good for twin tv, dvi, svideo.

What i did notice on yours its only PC6400 ram, some offers on PC8500 XMS Dominator Extreme 2 x 2gB sticks just over £120, had to cough up £270 on offer 16 months ago for 2 x 1Gb sticks.

This would still be fairly good on non GPU intensive gaming. It gets hot when i clock it and hangs, so back to standard.
FSB currently 1341mhz CPU 3118MHZ @ 23 degrees C Just ticking over.

and im at 3.0ghz stable atm 24c-26c Thur core temp idle (prime95 -- 4 cores 100% load for 6 hours 47c)
went to 3.5ghz the other day but must of not had enough voltage to be stable but did get the chance to run 3dmark06 be for it crashed and my new score is

The 3D mark page showed you as having PC6400 at one time.
Showed something similar on mine as regards the ram.
Also said mine was an E6700 a few times, its an old E6600 2.4Gb which it now recognises notsure.gif

I like the Thermaltake with inbuilt water cooling cases.
This is an Aerocool 5 1/4" 10 bay if required can position anything any where with the same height as yours, no screws required for hardware just clip in place, same with hard drives. Big fan at front pulling in, one same size at rear with same again on an aftermarket capilliary heatsink for cpu. Three small fans on to hard drives and one on to GPU which isnt enough so run stock. PSU and hard drives at bottom opposite hand to yours but similar. Ideal and one of the best for air cooled.
Mine is as neat as i can possibly make it with all the junk and monitoring plugged in.

On the Assus AI booster its showing 23 dgrees today after 3 1/2hrs, 1349FSB, 3033 CPU clock speed which is around 2 to 300 lower than actual.

Got similar ram PC8500 mine runs at a verified 1066MHz at latencies of 5-5-5-15, easilly take 2.6 volts. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... subcat=817 Only three around at the time was as i say on offer at £270 now about £64.

Could do with an up to date GPU cant get it past 6200, the furry doughnut momentarilly stops. Does similar when recording two TV progs and watching another. Might be an upgrade for the 2 year old AMD the kids got, that runs hot.

Why dont someone make a short SATA lead.
