Today was an interesting day. I went to the Honda F1 Operations Centre for a Telecommunications Conference and it was a 300 mile round trip. As soon as I hit the motorway [about 30 mile into journey] the exhaust control indicator light comes on and is continuous, not blinking. It seemed to be OK for a few miles until suddenly 'safe mode' kicked in and I can't go faster than 40mph on the M25. I pulled over to the hard shoulder and cut the engine. About 2 minutes later I started up again, exhaust control indicator light still on but safe mode has now gone so I get back up to speed and covered another 10 miles or so. Safe mode kicked in yet again and I have to pull over once more. A few more minutes later I restarted and despite the exhaust light still on it completed the journey without going into safe mode.
After the conference which lasted a couple of hours with a factory tour I got back to the car, started up and the light was still on. I got back on the M40 and stayed at 70 until I reached services where I filled up. As I started up to drive off, the light had gone and the car sailed home without a problem.
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? notsure.gif
Thanks for any help.
PS. I may have slightly overfilled with oil as the dipstick is useless for judging levels.
