Black z22se instead of silver?

Just had a new engine put in and it's got a black plastic cover instead of the old bare aluminium? Anyone got one of these? Any difference between the two?

I think all post 2003 2.2's come with the revised plastic rocker cover instead of the aluminium one. Mine's got a black plastic one anyway.

I've heard a few people mention that the newer engines (these black ones, post 2004?) have 155bhp std as opposed to the old 147. Any truth in that rumour? I can't remember where I saw or heard it but I'm sure I recall at least a couple of people mentining it to me. Might have a search in t'interweb this afternoon...

no the later engines with 155 bhp are the 2.2 direct

the z22se has 147 bhp with precat and everything standard

Fair enough. I ditched the precat and put the ported throttle body on last week so it's feeling nice and strong now 😉

Dunno, its just what ive heard, i would presume the injectors squirt directly into the cylinder like a diesel does??
Doeslt the injector nozzles sit behind the inlet valve on ours?

Ive never taken much notice to be honest, i know more about turbo diesels lol
