Well it's on. Work finishes at 2 on friday so I got the car in the loading bay to avoid being rained on.
I've had the TB and injectors off in recent weeks (I had a misfiring problem, fixed now), so I was quite up to speed with what is what and how to take it off.
I had the 120 amp alternator, so I had to cut the little thing of the side of the 2.4 manifold. I did this a couple weeks ago actually. Used angle grinder to lob it off, then cut a circular-ish bit of ally to go over the hole. stuck on with a generous helping of tigerseal.
WARNING make sure you cut the correct side of the manifold
(I cut the wrong side off, so I have an ally plate at each end)

I took the route of extracting the fuel rail to give myself a bit more room. It's worth noting that if you do this, then you don't need to remove the two studs holding the manifold on.
Once it was all off, I took about modifying the alternator. Unscrew the two bolts and 1 screw to get the plastic cover off etc. I reconnected the big red cable and put the supressor on the other side. Used a little hacksaw to take off the extruding bit of extra bolt thread (Make sure you do this after the bolt is already on as it could make it tricky to put the bolt on afterwards).
Switch over all gaskets etc.. Time to squeeze in the 2.4 manifold. Fitted in pretty easy with the fuel rail off and the ecu mount (muncher one) and ecu already attached. I was unable to feel holw much clearance there was, but I suspect not very much. If I was doing this again, I'd put some riv-nuts in the mounting bracket as messing with the nuts and bolts is frustrating.
My servo hose had to be streched quite a bit to get it to reach, bt it just fit on. I'm going to have to get a longer length of hose for the valve to mani part.
Connected everything up and off home I went at 4.30 (2h 30 for the fitting job?) Car performed excellently with zero hiccups. The increase in power is quite noticable if I do say so myself. I'm running the standard air filter, air box, standard fpr setup. Exhaust manifold is standard , weld in magnaflow 300, and a courtenay back box. The increase in power (gut feeling only) is that this mod added more than when I did the sport cat thumbup
Could really do with a remap now though I think..
Anyone needs a hand in the NW, just ask!
