Interesting.. Removing the ECU would not help much I think. I know that they open up some ECU's to do chiptuning, but if you remove the cover you will see exactly.. nothing 🙂 You first have to de-solder both connectors before reaching any of the chips.
Don't see any need to do it, ECU can be flashed fine through the OBD port. It isn't very fast to do it that way, around 20-25 minutes. But I don't think that all the soldering will be faster (not to think of the damage that you can do if you make a mistake..)
