Rotary is what you have to be careful with, PC is fairly safe as long as you use correct product and pad combo.
I tested the PC with a cutting pad and most aggresive product on a scap pannel. I got some real heat into the pannel holding it on one spot for a period of time, it pritty much destroyed the pad, and removed a fair few micons but you wouldnt do this to your own car.
The thing you do have to be very vareful is to make your the pad is clean if get any dirt / grit on the pad then you will need to make an appointment to your bodyshop.
