ADVICE PLEASE

Dear All,

I have a silver 2001 Vectra B 2.2 SRI 150bhp. I have a Magnex backbox and am looking to bolt on an induction kit. I have been told the K&N 57i is the one to go for but i have heard good things about one called a Viper Piper. Pardon my ignorance but this is all abit new to me.

Any advice on the induction kits would be great, i have also heard of a 3 pipe conversion, can anyone give any more detail on this or any other 'beginer mods' i can get myself started on?

Firstly, welcome! ;-)

As a rule of thumb, cone filters/induction kits are not good unless you can shield it from engine heat and then supply a sufficent cold air supply. They best way to go is buy a decent panel filter and modify the existing airbox.

he usual method is to fit a hose from the lower grille to the airbox inlet

I fitted two smaller hoses, one from the lower and one from the upper grilles

And if you make the cold air intakes slightly longer, and loose the pipe from the air box completely, you get a nice induction-kit-like roar, without the power loss associated with an induction kit 😃
