Lightened pulleys

my lightened alternator pulley arrived last week from the states 😃

I ordered it way back in early November last year but the first pulley failed to arrive :cry:

the guy sorted it out with the postal service and sent another cheers..

my plan is to get an under-drive lightened pulley for the crank and fit the pair together 🙂

Beware with crank pulleys vocky, they are harmonic balancers which are (un)balanced in a way it reduces stress from the crank

No aftermarket solution would work that way

I will see if they make a difference, the belt should take most of the vibrations anyway dunno..

lightened flywheel allows the engine to rev easier 🙂

lightened pulleys also reduce the rotating mass

depends what mods you have planned, might be worth waiting until you fit an atb diff or have the engine out for mods, like removing the balancer shafts dunno..

or you could just get a flywheel fitted 🙂

Neil, wouldn`t it be cheaper to go on holiday to the States for 2 weeks buy a load of goodies, than pay the shipping costs. 😃

I am not sure an alloy crank pulley is an excellent idea when the build book states that the stock steel one expands and cracks the oil pump gears (that's why they sell uprated oil gears) notsure.gif

But the gains in the feeling of the engine should be cool

there has been no reported problems in the usa, except when the owner has a massive stereo which don't work too well after fitting an underdrive pulley :lol:

the RKsport under-drive pulley fitted perfect 😃

I bought a 5PK837 drive belt which also was a perfect fit 😃

the alternator pulley is for the usa spec alternator, so would not fit 🙁

oh well a good excuse to fit a smaller usa spec alternator :roll:

a bonus is it should need less engine power to run, so more bhp :lol:

the strange thing was I never cleaned the engine when I did the rebuild :?

I cleaned everything else, but hey it's whats inside that counts showo..

I have a spare bolt lined up.............. :lol:

it's just not worth the hassle to import and swap the alternator over, the usa spec is 105 Amps, so will still use a similar amount of power to run it :roll:

but I do now have an expensive paperweight shaped like an alternator pulley 8)
