car registration numbers

prefix registration numbers have the year denoted by a letter then 1-3 numbers then 3 more letters that can denote the place it was registered so what i want to know is how do i find out where my car was registered?? the last 3 letters are TCR

You ignore the T and look at the CR. This is a Portsmouth registration.

cool i remember doing this at college 8yrs ago but i couldnt remember how. so how did find out??
as i tried looking on DVLA and got nowhere cheers..

also i found out that if you have the old prefix reg i.e t565try you cant put a new style plate on your car i.e ae55wer coz the DVLA say you cant make a car look younger than it is, how pathetic is that!! coz you can change the appearence from say a prefacelift vectra to a facelift vectra so why not a number plate??????? :evil:

i'm only pi$$ed coz i found a number plate that i wanted and its a new style :cry:

Yeah, thats always been the case. It was the same on the old plates as well, if you had a 1991 J reg, you couldn't have a plate starting with say R for 1998.
