Engine cutting out

Hello,

While driving my 2.2 Vectra SRi, when I clutch and brake the Revs seem to bounce between 500 and 1,500 RPM, then when I get the car stop the engine cuts out, this doesnt happen all the time though. even when I can tell it is going to cut out I rev it a bit to try and prevent it, but in the end it still dies on me. I know the it needs a new Clutch Release Bearing - Thrust bearing thing. whatever that is, but could this be causing it? And Yesterday when I started it the throttle response was really poor, so I restarted the car and it was ok.

Could anyone please advise what is wrong?

First things first clean your throttle body and check the bottom of the butter fly valve isn't carboned up by the EGR valve sure there is a guide in the how to section.

you said it cuts out when you brake yeh if so does your brake pedal go hard, as if it is holding no vacuum ie as if you had pressed the brake pedal a number of times with the engine turned off , if it does you have a holed diafram in your brake servo this will cause your engine to cut out when slowing down you may also be able to hear a small hissing noise when you first turn off the engine for a couple of seconds .
