Sounds like some sort of drag car, i presume it isnt good running the car in it's current state dunno..

Is it the 2.4TB that is causing it to idle like that?

That's 2.4 manifold, 2.2 tb, sc injectors and a TMS stage 3 engine. I tried the 2.4 tb but it idles just as badly but as soon as the revs go above 4k the eml light comes on, sounds like a spitfire and then loses all power. I haven't got any tools to check the lambda but suspect it is running a tad rich judging from the black smoke coming out of it 🙂

hrrm i've lots of black smoke too, and low lambda readings

i put this down to dodgy welding on the exhaust,

but im starting to wonder now if its my injectors, either not seated properly or something else

im running 2.4 mani 2.2 TB but 2.2 injectors

but i guess the fault could be anything :roll:

hows your car run on standard injectors ?

I thought the 2.2sc injecters required a remap to work. Vocky had a remap to get them working.

I'm basically waiting for the problem with the 2.4 tb to be sorted then I'll have it mapped. I could get it mapped with the 2.2tb but it seems a waste of time and money to then have it remapped again two weeks later.

The car was running OK on standard injectors but it didn't seem to have as much power as it had before putting the 2.4 manifold. There was no black smoke at that point and is seemed to run as normal. I believe that mapped cars, like mine being a stage 3 tms or cs5 don't take that well to having the 2.4 manifold fitted so will need a remap regardless.

Its interesting you say that you think 2.4 has decreased the power of your car, because I reckon the 2.4 mani has taken some of my power away.

Like you I've got the SC injectors to go in - just waiting for the 2.4TB results had some sort of exhaust mani to be sorted before I go for mapping.

I've just listened to both them video files and they sound as lumpy as mine with the piper cams in, just a lot louder due to the limitations of the exhaust system on a vx220. I wouldnt have said that the 2.4l manifold made the idal any worse. Are you not worried about melting the cat with all the excess fuel from the SC injectors?

I wasn't until you just said that. I'll just have to make sure I keep the revs above 3k at all times. I should fit in well with all the old dodderers bouncing off the rev limit in first around here 😃

I thought TMS had managed to remap the ecu to allow the 2.4 tb to work notsure.gif

Just listened to this - mine sound indentical to this with piper cams (and the normal injectors in), which is why I posted a query on thus last week. Mine idles smoothly for the few minutes on a cold startup before settling down excatly like that. What I can't understand is that the piper cams are not exactly 'wild' either?!

Was the idle a lot smoother before you fitted the 2.4 Manifold?

Mine sounds pretty similar with Piper cams too.

No difference before or after the 2.4 manifold. It sounded like that with a virtually standard car and the cams fitted, its quite normal and tbh, I quite like it! Mwahahaha,.

Mine has always sounded fine with the schrick cams and never had a lumpy idle. Even with the 2.4 manifold it was still fine. It seems that the injectors are the reason for my dodgy idle and lack of top end.

Thats the advantage of the shrick cams I guess. Tall lift and short duration = better idel

thats what makes schrick cams so special indeed
