Oil dipstick

Anyone else have problems getting a reading from their dipstick?
I've checked mine about 10 times cos I'm getting paranoid. Some show just below the max level, others show nothing.
How the feck are you supposed to know how much oil is in the car....
I've got no Check Oil on the MID/TID and no oil pressure warning light showing on the dash.
Just a bit concerned because its due a service and I don't want to risk drying the chain out, just can't get a consitent reading off the stick.
The cars level, been driven and allowed to cool. The only time the dipstick has been covered in oil is when I have left it for 15 mins. Repeat tests one after the other give varying amounts of oil on the stick....
Any tips?

Same problem here. I have to wipe the stick about 8 times before I can figure a reading out what.. . As long as the oil level looks about in the middle ot should be ok 🙂

I have the same issue on my 1.6 The level is all over the place, I can do nothing different, and get 4 different reading in as many attempts.

Have you tried cleaning the dipstick? drag it out and get all the crud off, particularly on the wavey bit where the guage is. When it's clean it's much easier to get a precise reading 😃

Same here, they could have come up with a better dip stick, I can never get a good reading from mine. I have to dip it in a good few time to sort of get a reading :roll:
