Hi can anybody help? I have spoken to a number of people who say that you can re use the Big End Bolts and reading though the forums nobody (that I can find) actually says that you have to replace them.
Quoting Vocky from his post in Projects/2.2 Vectra engine rebuild 29 July 2007
looking at the damage to the pistons I think you need to remove them to make sure the rings are still free to move dunno..
a common after effect of chain damage is a smoking engine, which is caused by the rings being unable to move due to damaged pistons.
it's so much cheaper to check them now rather than having to pull the head back off later.
just a case of dropping the sump and removing the conrod bolts, so no cost involved, just a couple of hours time.
However in the Autodata CD / Manual they state that the Bolts should be replaced can anyone give me a definite answer either way?notsure.gif
Cheers cheers..
