when mine started to ratlle is was for a few secs only on start up, then got worse over next week, when I decided I better strip and have a look and in my opinion I was only just in time as well. This was before discovering all the forums about this and realising im not alone.
If outside warranty check it, if your car is under 5 years old or slightly older with full service history take it in and demand it be looked at as is a known problem.
