Hi all, Ian from VVOC here.
One of the guys at my work has a vectra 2.2 estate, 51 plate with about 90k on the clock (CDX)
Basicaly one day it was missfiring, well more than that when i popped bonnet then engine was rocking a lot.tries to stall,If you take it over 2k revs its fine and drives as it always has.
I first throught plugs/Dis pack. Got new plugs, the wrong ones were in it, fitted tripple electrode ones but did not seem to make a difference, went for dis pack, fitted still the same! (so took it back to vxl)
Its now at the local garage and they are stuck. I have checked and there are no codes in the car along with no EM light.
What the garage has said is that on idle there is lots of unbernt fuel coming out, but when over 2k the exhaust gasses are spot on?
So currently,
Very lumpy idle spot on over 2 k
Running rich on idle, spot on over 2 k
Cleaned Throttle body
Change plugs and dis pack
No Fault codes or lights
EGR has been blanked to test
Garage are saying possible cam chain slipped, but i cant see that it would be running one tooth out. no engine noises, like things are hitting (piston, valves). if they were to remove the cover then i guess they can try lining it back up with the guide marks if they line up then its not slipped i guess?
Any one any clues? or what you would try next?
