Help Please! Cam Follower hitting valve cap on Patriot Stg2

Hi Guys,

Ive just had a Patriot Stage 2 assembled head fitted to my VX220 and the Cam Follower is hitting the Valve cap effectively grinding it down and throwing swarf onto the head 🙁 There are also Piper reground cams in there.

Patriot supplied the head assembled, and the cams were installed with the original followers (no modified ones were provided)

Please help, whats wrong!!?

it's not the cam or followers, it sounds like the head of the valve doesn't stick out far enough

Cheers Vocky, the oracle as always 🙂 i think theres a problem with the valve stem length or indeed the retainers (in which they dont include so youd assume used stock)... Heres pics.

sorry OT but is I thought that Patriot would use the sand cast head as a starting point and that's a lost foam casting.

No mate they CNC the original GM one 🙁

Anyone got any other bright ideas? The car has been off road now for 4 weeks, its breakin my heart!

email patriot and ask what parts they advise to fit dunno..

you probably need special double valve spring retainers or special followers/rockers notsure.gif

you could grind the roller rocker/follower to allow the required clearance, I don't know if thats a good idea or not :?
