Ive recently done a service

The plugs that came out where three prong and the ones given to me when i went to the local car parts was a single prong platinum plug. I took them back and they said they were the only ones listed.

Went to another car parts place and they gave me the same ones saying they where the only ones listed also, well i took them and put them in the engine. Its running fine. But was all on sunday so couldnt go check with vauxhall.

Thought i would post up asking if anyone else has come across this??

Only vx sell the triple electrode ones.....factors dont have alisting for them...

best nip down to vaux sat morning, wonder why they specify different plugs

A fair few of us run the NKG single electrode platinum plugs and they're fine I wouldnt worry about it. Its just that the vaux 3 prong ones are a fair bit cheaper and work well. My last set of platinum plugs lasted about 40,000miles and were still going strong when I changed them trying to diagnose a different problem I had with hydraulic lifters. The only advantage three prong plugs have over standard is that they maintain the correct gap longer as the wear occurs at multipull points around the electrode. As the z22se has a cleaver coil pack that measures the difference between the compression and exhaust stroke spark plug firing to calculate the cam position and timing, I'd have thought it essential to keep the spark plug gaps correct to get the best from it. However the platinum tiped plugs will probably outlast the three prong plugs anyway....

i took vx ones out of mine ,put singles in mine ,dont know wont make ,but splutters like a c--t, getting some vx ones weekend,,,,,,,,

i just put ngk in mine too give them ago

According to my Trade club book, the 2.2 uses GM33 plugs, which are listed as single electrode in the Vectra section, and as triple electrode in the spark plug section notsure.gif

Anyway, the part number is 9199038

i noticed since i changed my plugs it had a slight drop in power especially 3rd gear pull

now i didnt know whether to put this down to the fact im just getting use to the car and they always slow down as you get use to them

or these plugs (ngk platinum) normally i wouldnt mind as ngk good make

so went to vaux this morning the chap behind parts told me the three prongs have been superseeded by the platinum plugs and they have now been superseaded by the three prong platinum plugs

so i got a set anyway £16 for all four gunna put them in tomorrow i'll let you know if i notice any difference

part number is the same as Dingo says
