Points !!

Hi all, got pulled over for speeding over the weekend and got myself two points which brings my total up to four. I was doing 118km in a 100km zone. I was driving on a dual carriageway and I seen a car on the slip road on the other side of the carriageway pulling out after I passed it, I knew straight away it was the fuzz . I kept looking in the rear view hoping it wasn't them but sure enough it was in a unmarked car so with the blue lights flashing I pulled in . My god he was not happy, he gave me the third degree about road safety and speeding. I just looked at him with a little smile which made him worst. After he gave me the two points he gave me another rant about road safety, i dont blame him because it pissing down with snow at the time and you could see feck all . :roll:

I got a 80 euro find also. You can get up to 12 points before you can get banned on the irish road but if i was doing over 160km its an automatic ban straight away . I could of gotten 4 points but i was lucky . My insurance should be ok . I think if i was doing 120km or over, i would of gotten 4 points

ive got 6 points from speeding and im only 22! first one was from doing 36 in a 30 and second one was 47 in a 40. both by mobile speed camera, hiding away as usual! very unlucky really but it's my own fault. both 3 points and a £60 fine

From now on i'm using the cruise control so i won't go over the speed limit, now that my safety cushion of two points is gone . It does take a very long time for the points to come off. cryb..

Unlucky. Rick, does the 6 points load your insurance much?

If i'm honest mate it hasn't really affected my insurance, not entirely sure why either?

I was paying a tad over 1k on my last policy without points (that was 4 weeks ago)

now ive got a new policy with all my points etc and im paying £965 FC, with my missus on the policy aswell. (she was on the last one too)

with no NCB aswell.

So not too bad at all. Still no excuse to speed though!

Read summat that points for speeding no longer affect ure ins.....Correct me if i'm wrong....

Yeh i heard that having points with certain insurance companies wont affect your premium, not sure if it goes for all companies tho.

some insurance companies dont count ur first 3 points cos its that common nowadays

I'd heard about the 3 points not loading, but was surprised that 6 points didn't with some companies
