Electronic throttle control malfunction

Hi all new to the site.my vectra has been playing up now for a few weeks.despite numerous visits on the computer,the fault has finally been pinpointed to the ETC as per the title.vauxhall have said to me they recommend replacing the entire throttle and fuel injection system system at a cost of nearly 700 inc of vat and labour.the fault code was P1682 if anyone can maybe give me a second opinion?all advice much appreciated.

P1682 - Electronic Throttle Control Malfunction

could be any of these;

bad electrical connection between - ecu plugs, throttle body plug, throttle pedal plug

faulty throttle pedal potentiometer

faulty throttle body

faulty ecu

personally I would check the throttle pedal first, these have been known to fail dunno..

thanks for that mate Ill be upfront and honest I know nothing about engines and repairs hence why it was in the garage to get "fixed" I wouldnt know the first place to look for anything especially with newer cars and all these damn sensors lol

might be an idea to have an auto electrican have a quick look cheers..

car was at auto sparky today hes agreed with vauxhall its ffffknackered.would need car for half a day to fully isolate fault then could be crazy money to sort depending on what it is.

you need to swap the items listed above to isolate the cause dunno..

See if you can get hold of another throttle body from ebay?
