Only 19mm hole is the one in the bottom, that slides over the gearbox selector shaft dunno..

got the car back today and im not taken by it really, its weird but it seems there is just as much travel in second but bugger all going into third, although it probably just needs me to get used to it.

the mechanic thinks it would just be better chopping down and rewelding the original one !

Maybe the cable needs adjusting, i noticed the hole for the pin wasnt the same alignment with the cable pivot, meaning the cable will sit further back than it did, might be why 2nd is still far back, but 3rd is shorter. Might feel better if its reset, would put 2nd and third further forward.

I need to get the shaft hole bored out to 22mm then?

So is this a worth while mod or should i go for the short shifter stick ?

Havent had the time do fit it to mine yet, not exactly sure which hole needs enlarging either.
I need to measure the gear selector shaft, and have another think how ill whack that pin out with the abs pump hovering above it.

The pin can be very hard to get out.

We did it with the gearbox out of the car and it was a real pain... I don't know how you managed to do it with the GB in dunno..
