I only came here to find out how to change my cam chain...

Car's off to Courtenay for a remap soon and maybe 2.4TB if it works... and maybe injectors.... and the Dbillas exhaust manifold would top it off nicely I'd have thought walkthedog.. walkthedog.. walkthedog..

Looking at the peak power of the new flagship Elise SC of 217bhp and thinking hmmm, would be nice to top that... :roll:

What spec are you running again? Have you spoken to Jon recently about how the developement is going? If your looking at those kind of figures i'm going get excited in a minute.

What's the current situation on the 2.4 tb? I'm about to book mine in for a remap and am wondering whether to hold off and see if the tb will work aswell.

What will be the likely advantage to getting the 2.4 tb to work? Is it just purely a case of more air = bigger bang? If you put a 2.4tb on your car Vocky waht sort of gain might you expect?

on JohnnyN's vectra the 2.4 tb gave more power than the 2.4 inlet manifold did.

I must explain why....the inlet manifold was the biggest restriction on the inlet system, when the 2.4 inlet manifold was fitted the restriction moved to the 2.2 tb, when courtenay fitted the 2.4 tb the restrictions were removed and the full power gains could be seen showo..

If I fitted a 2.4 tb to mine I would probably loose power, as the 2.4 tb is smaller than my current 2.0 sc tb

2.4 tb = 65mm
2.0 sc tb = 68mm

I see 🙂 Would it be likely that having a remap at the moment is almost a waste of time as when the 2.4tb works it will require another remap?

wait a couple of weeks for courtenay to sort the 2.4tb issue, then fit the 2.4 tb and get a remap 🙂

edit: TMS are working on a map for the 2.4 tb, they have several in stock.

a 2.4 throttle body group buy is 'on the cards', as soon as the eml issue is fixed 🙂

the power gains will depend on the state of tune of the particular z22se engine.

JohnnyN's engine has a high spec (182 bhp before the 2.4 mods) so needs more air to produce more power, the 2.4 tb won't do much on a standard engine :roll:

So, in order to get around 185bhp, whats the best way to go? 2.4 Inlet Manifold, Remap and cams? then the 2.4 tb? notsure.gif

you should achieve 185bhp with cams, 2.4 inlet manifold and a remap, but you will need to already have a decent exhaust and possibly a sports cat too.

a dbilas exhaust manifold would also add bhp showo..

Thanks for all that info Neil. I think you've just updated me on what Jon was going to tell me yesterday if i'd have got his call.

Looking forward to a positive outcome on this. It will definately be worth the wait.

I already have a remus sports centre section and back box and derestricted airbox with K&N panel filter, are these good enough to build on? dunno..

Milltek / Magnex are proven sport exhausts as well as Remus. I don't rate the Remus straight through center section for power at all.

I'm not sure vocky, I am now almost certain the 2.0sc TB does not open wide open like the 2.4 does
Unfortunately noone has the two of them to test both
