Is there a limit to how greedy I could get ?

I bought this laptop from PC World 3 days ago for £379.99

Upgraded the memory myslelf by adding another 1GB so a total 2GB(bought for £10 from ebay)

Since I am going to India next week, I got a VAT refund form from PC world. So I get the VAT back on my sale price in cash from London Heathrow.

Today I checked online and PC world had reduced its price to £349.99 ( £30 reduction in 3 days !!)

I went in store today, and told the Manager, I was unhappy about this. They gave me a £30 refund lol

he hehe , so I got the VAT back on it, + the £30 refund from store...

claiming the VAT is justified coz, the laptop is a gift to my Dad who has retired in India. So I can legally claim back VAT on it as it is being taken for use to a country outside the EC/EU.
Asking the £30 back from the store manager was a bit 'cheap' according to my Mrs....lol...she still not speaking to me...says I always show her up...she was not expecting me to ask them for the £30...lol...
Its all money yeah...lol

Well to be fair, if you'd have taken it back and asked for a refund, they would have had to give it you, and you could have then bought it straight back for the reduced cost.....so no harm in asking for the £30 difference back

The way I look at it is, if you said to someone would like £30 for using your loaf? who`s going to say no thanks. Well played I say. Bought the same laptop on Boxing day good bit of kit.

true..a good deal just over £100 off the price I paid (£379).

ADVENT is PCWORLD's own brand. So I am not too sure on the quality of the components they procure to build there systems...but for the price...its a good deal..

My dad will need some bit on convincing to use VISTA......I could see myself spending hours on Windows Remote Assistance, lol...DEJAVU...lol

Glad you got one over on those knobs, all the hassle i have had from Wednesbury before the Wolvo one opened up last year, both as bad. Total monkeys didnt evem know what XP64 was, we only do this ... our own brand.
So you saved £100, how long did it take to find a salesperson. I have done worse in them shops due to staff not having a clue what they are pushing- See all the discounted stuff 😃
In one month 3 replacement MSI mobos, 2 1Gb ram chips, 4 PSU, 2 GPU all returned again and refunded.

Good un before Christmas, went in to all the four on that retail park after a 40" Samsung, best i could bargain was a Monster 1m cable rubbish or £20 off- Mate i aint talkin £20 i am talking at least £250 off can you match? Got it from Dixons in the end £255 cheaper delivered close on the price of lesser model LE40R.

true...it took me a very long time to find a sales assistant. i finally found a guy who was setting upl the display laptop/pc's . I expressed my interest to buy the laptop on display , he said ' please wait, some one will be with you shortly' and he continued to do what he was doing...without even calling for his colleagues or helping me...
it has always been like that at PC WORLD. when it comes to customer service , I prefer COMET. Excellent service, they always make you feel welcome.
with PC world, I usually reserve online and collect in store (usually look out for web deals) .

About 2 months ago I noticed on a display in PC WORLD, the config of a quad core processor was terribly wrong. Instead of 8MB Cache, it said 512KB Cache...lol... I have always been pointing it out to them...they are not bothered. I checked even y'day, it sill was not changed !!!!

oh i forgot to add this.

when i initially asked for the VAT refund form, they said they did not have any in stock for the past 3 months. they would not tell me if Jn 9 store had any or when they would get it. they did not even have to think. The moment I asked for a VAT refund form, an instant firm NO from them lol...they are so lazy, they dont want to go through the hassle of filling the form for me and do a simple math calculation.

i told them, i was disappointed and I would express my discontent with the RM and that I would walk across to COMET where they make customers feel welcome.

instant reply was ' Please wait, let me check with Business Manager' to see if he has any forms.

the lady comes out with a whole book of forms. About 100+ forms in them !!!!!!

You must be closer to the bigger J9 store than me, 15 miles each way.
Always on the look out for incorrect pricing then i snap em up.
Sales people are supposed to be knowledgeable in what thay sell, the only people in there that know something are the reparers. Much like McDonalds, if numpties exist they employ em though there are a usually a couple who know something.
For every return, your name and address is recorded in a book, must have gone through half a book some years back trying out stuff other than above and not to expectations so returned for something else and so on. Returns are repacked and marked up with a discount.

Buy most things online, more choice and its far cheaper if prepared to wait.

I managed to return an external harddrive that I'd had for 9 months which had been dropped from the table while at full spin watching a DVD from it. Just went in, said "This won't load anymore, and is making a funny noise", they took it in the back, said "Yeah, don't know what's up with it" and exchanged it for a brand new one
