basic backbox required

I just need a basic back box to go on my standard system, astra coupe 2.2 2003 model, does anything get cheaper than PECO at £165.

The OE replacement I have been quoted at over £300.

Or do you need a back box at all - can I just cut the old one out and replace it with a piece of pipe?

in my day you could just buy a cherry bomb and if you were really pushing the boat out it would have a chrome end on it!!

Where you based?, as i have my old remus exhaust system you can have for a few quid.
You cant just a bit of pipe as it would be mega loud and would get you complained about or pulled.

I am in bicester north oxfordshire but I have a friend in Bristol, tony, who would help meeting up and exchanging zaust for pound notes. He is a fellow petrol head with a stylus kitcar built by his own fair hand. Do you mean just a backbox or a centre section too? and if so how much (assuming fair condition)
